2019 UO14 is a centaur and minor planet that was discovered on October 23, 2019 by Pan-STARRS 1 telescope with an orbital period of 30.667 years, eccentricity of 0.23605, semi-major axis of 9.797 AU, and inclination of 32.83.[1]
In 2024, 2019 UO14 is confirmed to be the first trojan minor planet of Saturn orbiting at the L4 Lagrange point, this leaves Mercury as the only planet in the solar system without any trojan minor planets.
Orbit[]
2,000 years ago before 2019 UO14 hasn't captured by Saturn, it has been orbiting around the sun as a centaur. In the future, 2019 UO14 will most likely ejected from L4 because of the strong gravitational pull between Jupiter and Uranus, and stated that its orbit is unstable, but it will continue being a Saturnian trojan for 1,000 more years.[2]
