A "Cis-Neptunian object" refers to any astronomical body found within the orbit of Neptune. Specifically, it encompasses all sub-planetary bodies that orbit the Sun at or within the distance of Neptune but outside the orbit of Jupiter. These objects reside in the region between Jupiter and Neptune.
Groups[]
Centaurs[]
These are icy minor planets that dwell in the cis-Neptunian zone. They orbit the Sun between the orbits of Jupiter and Neptune. Centaurs often cross the orbit of at least one giant planet. An ongoing research suggests that centaurs could most likely be SDOs that were thrown into the Solar system's inner reaches by Neptune, likely classifying them as "Cis-Neptunian objects"[1]. Some notable centaurs include 2001 QR 322, 385571 Otrera, 2005 TN 53, 385695 Clete, 2006 RJ 103, 2007 VL 305, 2008 LC 18 and 2004 KV 18.
Neptune Trojans[]
They occupy stable regions around the L4 and L5 Lagrange points of Neptune’s orbit. The most prominent Neptune trojan is 2001 QR 322, which orbits ahead of Neptune at its L4 Lagrangian point and measures approximately 132 kilometers (82 miles) in diameter.
