Solar System Wiki Staff Wiki staff are esteemed users who have been given special user rights, to help guide a wiki community to success. Different staff members each have unique roles, unique permissions and unique abilities to help lead and protect the wiki.
The FounderThe Founder, also known as The Creator, is the user who creates the community. The Founder (upon creating the wiki) is immediately given both administrator and bureaucrat rights.
The founder has no higher status than any other bureaucrat since they cannot demote a bureaucrat. The status by itself does not grant any special permissions, except for the special badge and perhaps some bragging rights.
They have the rights of an Administrator/Bureaucrat to:
- Ability to give all roles
- Customize theme design
- Edit MediaWiki pages.
- See wiki analytics
- Create/delete pages
- Rollback edits
- Move pages
- Undelete files/pages
- Protect/unprotect pages
- Merging page history
- Ban users

BureaucratsBureaucrats are users who can add an revoke another user's rights. They also have administrator rights. The bureaucrat has the highest ranking in the wiki ranking system.
They have the rights of an administrator/bureaucrat to:
- Ability to give all roles

- Edit MediaWiki pages
- See wiki analytics
- Create/delete pages
- Rollback edits
- Move pages
- Undelete files/pages
- Protect/unprotect pages
- Merging page history
- Ban users

AdministratorsAdministrators are users responsible for keeping a community together. They also edit certain parts of a wiki, usually inaccessible to moderators or editors. They are the second highest rank in the wiki ranking system.

Moderators
Moderators are users who create and manage discussions and articles across the wiki. There are two types of moderators.
Content Moderators are responsible for pages and other media content on the wiki and Discussion Moderators who moderate discussions, comment sections and occasionally the forum. In the wiki ranking systems, users are given discussion moderator status before advancing to content moderator status.
Content moderators are moderators who have additional tools available to moderate specific parts of a community; these tools are:
- Editing and moving fully protected pages.
- Deleting and undeleting pages and files
- Editing and moving protected files
- Rollback pages
- Protecting/unprotecting pages
- Patrolling pages if the community has the recent changes patrol feature enabled.
Discussion moderators (also known as Thread Moderators and occasionally Forum Moderators) are users who have additional tools available to manage conversations in various features across the community where users are having discussions. These tools are:
- Removing and restoring threads and replies by any user
- Closing and reopening replies
- Manage discussions categories, and move posts from one category to another
- Deleting blog comments
- Editing and deleting article comments
- Moderating the discussions feature, if enabled.
On The Solar System Wiki, discussions moderators have a "Thread Moderator" masthead badge, while content moderators get a "Content Moderator" masthead badge. If the role is needed, a forum moderator will get a "Forum Moderator" masthead badge.
Rollbacks are users who assist in vandalism prevention. These users can also assist content moderators in restoring pages. They are the first rank in the wiki ranking system.
Rollbacks have the power to:
- Rollback edits made by others
On The Solar System Wiki, rollbacks have a "Rollback" masthead badge.
Heads are users who show increased devotion and skills that exceed the requirements of their respective user right.
Heads have no user rights other than the rights of their respective staff position.
On The Solar System Wiki, heads have a "Head Administrator", "Head Moderator", "Head Rollback" or "Head of Wiki Journalism" masthead badge. Those that excel in a specific area such as references are eligible to receive the "Excelling Member" masthead badge.
Staff Candidates are users who have requested user rights and are in the process of the staff training. They are usually guided by an admin or user of higher status. Their edits are checked everyday and are critiqued to make sure that they can be eligible for staff membership.
Staff Candidates have no user rights.
On The Solar System Wiki, staff candidates have a "Staff Candidate" masthead badge. This badge should be accompanied by the "Under Observation" masthead badge.
Under Observations or "UO's" are users who have requested user rights and are attempting to prove themselves, reprimanded users who have just ended their block, or new wiki staff. These users are observed and monitored, as to show their skills/rehab.
Under Observations have no user rights.
